Pasadena-area high school students work with professional award-winning composers to create music performed by PMC.

Applications due October 11, 2019

Listening to the Future is a project of the Pasadena Master Chorale where select high school student composers are matched with a composer mentor, who supports them as they compose two pieces to be performed by PMC on May 16, 2020. This is the fifth year of the program, which is provided at no cost to the students - made possible by the generous support of the City of Pasadena Department of Cultural Affairs and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.

Selected student composers will meet with composer mentors roughly every other week throughout the school year to create new pieces of choral music.

Space in the program is limited -  every year we look for 4-6 composers with ability and commitment and for whom this would be a unique or significant new opportunity. If you think that may be you, please contact us at

Listening To The Future is made possible in part by grants from the CIty of Pasadena Arts and Cultural Affairs division and from the LA County Arts Commission.
